This is picture of Sydney Reginald HOCKADAY (1892-1916) Taken in the garden of Highbury House, Bream Road, Lydney.He was born in Australia, and informally adopted by my maternalgrandfather, Frank Step HOCKADAY, after the death of his parents.He was a Captain in the Monmouthshire Regiment when he died of woundsnear Ypres.His name appears on war memorials in St Mary's church, Lydney,and in the Lydney Cricket Club.Photo and details supplied by Colin Wilton-Davies
